I feel very fortunate to be able to connect with the people for whom I fish. It is a connection that not many fishermen in America get to enjoy as John and I do.
There are so many issues surrounding our food sources in America today, such as where it comes from, the route it takes to get to your table, who catches it, and how it is caught. The best part of selling our catch directly to the public, is the opportunity to educate you about the seafood industry in particular. Marketing and advertising loopholes have made it nearly impossible to know all about your food sources. International trade and processing is a dirty little secret that the industry continues to keep out of the public view. Having a direct link to as much of your food as possible is important. Knowing where your food comes from and how it was produced is important. I am passionate about local eating and helping our community develop habits of purchasing local and knowing the source. I truly believe this is the key to sustainability in all aspects of consumption. I intend to share with you all kinds of things here, from stories and experiences, to recipes, great discoveries, and education about the American seafood industry and what you can do to support American fishermen so that we can continue to bring you sustainable, fresh, delicious seafood.
